It\u2019s time for the Dallas Cowboys\u2019 annual Thanksgiving Game<\/a>, and boy do they have a lot on their plate this year.<\/p>\n

Patrick Mahomes and the three-time Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> come to Dallas on Thursday to square off against Dak Prescott and crew. Before you plan your turkey-fueled nap for kickoff, however, know that the Cowboys are coming off their biggest win of the season<\/a>, and the 2025 Chiefs don\u2019t exactly look like the Chiefs of previous seasons.<\/a><\/p>\n

Would never have guessed these teams could arrive here for the big holiday game with wildly similar records (6-5, 5-5-1). That leaves both feeling equally desperate to escape with a victory and, this time, I think it\u2019s the Chiefs coming out ahead. The manner in which KC kept Jonathan Taylor, the NFL\u2019s leading rusher, from explosive plays (16 carries, 58 yards) even while being behind all day, has to be a concern for the Cowboys trying to strike some balance on offense. But I think the improved Dallas defense will turn this into a game where the Chiefs can\u2019t run it either. Field goals shall be big and scoring chances precious. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s a hotly debated topic: the idea of momentum. Some believe it\u2019s a falsity, others swear by it. I tend to fall in the latter, because I think the human element can\u2019t be ignored. The Cowboys just did something they hadn\u2019t done all season<\/a>. They won back-to-back games, doing so in spectacular fashion against the Eagles on Sunday. I think this defensive resurgence is legitimate, and therefore I believe the Cowboys will be a tough out the rest of the season. <\/p>\n

The Cowboys\u2019 improvement on defense can now be considered legitimate after their first victory this season against a team with a winning record. Kansas City\u2019s defense remains stout, setting up what promises to be another low-scoring contest on Thanksgiving. The bottom line: The Chiefs are a team that, more often than not, finds a way to win big games. The Cowboys are not. <\/p>\n

The emotional weight of Sunday\u2019s comeback win over the Eagles is something no statistic can capture. When the Cowboys take the field at AT&T Stadium on Thanksgiving, the atmosphere will be electric, fueled by a team riding an immeasurable surge of confidence. The Chiefs may enter as the betting favorites, but their struggles away from home in the AFC cast doubt on their dominance. Dak Prescott is poised to deliver another masterclass in leadership, and Dallas will lean on its resilience to secure a pivotal sixth victory of the season.<\/p>\n

Frankly, it\u2019s hard to know how to predict the Cowboys. Are they the team that looked awful in the first half against the Eagles? Or the one that looked like a playoff bunch in the second half? Brian Schottenheimer out-coached Nick Sirianni on Sunday. Can he do the same with Andy Reid on Thanksgiving? Depends on if they\u2019re still riding Sunday\u2019s fumes.<\/p>\n

Patrick Mahomes and Dak Prescott have faced each other just once. The Chiefs defeated the Cowboys in 2021, 19-9. Mahomes and Prescott are leading teams on the outside of the playoffs, with the Chiefs having a better chance to make it than the Cowboys. But the Chiefs are not the Chiefs. You know, a title-contending team. The Cowboys are ascending, having won their last two games. Dallas\u2019 defense is thriving and George Pickens is, well, acting like a superhero<\/a>.<\/p>\n
