Kimmel, who noted that Trump also accused the Democrats<\/a> of \u201cseditious behavior<\/a>,\u201d tossed to a clip of the president\u2019s \u201cbuddy\u201d on Fox News<\/a>, Brian Kilmeade, doing \u201ceverything he could\u201d to get him to walk back his suggestion.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the old days, if you said a thing like that, that was punishable by death,\u201d Trump said on Kilmeade\u2019s radio show<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, but you\u2019re not saying, you\u2019re not threatening them,\u201d Kilmeade observed. \u201cA lot of people were interpreting this as a threat and there\u2019s security.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I\u2019m not threatening them, but I think they\u2019re in serious trouble, I would say they\u2019re in serious trouble,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI\u2019m not threatening death, but I think they\u2019re in serious trouble. In the old days, it was death!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the old \u2014 what old days are the \u2014 the Salem witch trials?\u201d Kimmel asked. \u201cWhat days is \u2014 we did not put Congress people to death in the old days!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMark Kelly was a captain in the Navy; he flew 39 combat missions over Iraq and Kuwait,\u201d said Kimmel as he began to list the senator\u2019s r\u00e9sum\u00e9. \u201cHe\u2019s a former astronaut, which, if Trump starts going after our astronauts, who\u2019s next? Lauren S\u00e1nchez [Bezos]? Katy Perry?<\/a> Where does it end?!\u201d<\/p>\n
