{"id":40568,"date":"2025-07-05T10:52:19","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T10:52:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/40568\/"},"modified":"2025-07-05T10:52:19","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T10:52:19","slug":"texas-gives-up-crown-as-top-us-summer-road-trip-destination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/40568\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas gives up crown as top US summer road-trip destination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A mere two years ago, Texas was the <a href=\"https:\/\/dallas.culturemap.com\/news\/travel\/texas-best-road-trips-wallethub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">No. 1 state<\/a> for summer road trips, but now it lags far behind: The Lone Star State has dropped down to a sorry No. 8 on WalletHub&#8217;s latest <a href=\"https:\/\/wallethub.com\/edu\/best-worst-states-for-summer-road-trips\/4648\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2025 list<\/a> of &#8220;Best &amp; Worst States for Summer Road Trips.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Each year, the report compares all 50 states to figure out which are the most wallet-friendly, safe places to travel with plenty of fun activities for all. The report analyzes factors that road trippers prioritize for their trip plans, such as the average gas prices in each state, the type of attractions in each state, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Texas was pushed aside by Minnesota, which climbed through the ranks to claim the No. 1 spot this year.<\/p>\n<p>Texas salvaged its status with its affordable costs, with the report citing gas prices and inflation rates as major concerns for travelers this summer.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;[Gas prices have] remained high this year, with the national average at <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">over $3.130<\/a> per gallon now,&#8221; the report&#8217;s author wrote. &#8220;On top of that, [travelers will] need to consider accommodations, activities and dining, all of which continue to be impacted by inflation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Texas also performed well in the category of &#8220;attractions,&#8221; ranking No. 4 nationwide.
