\n\tThe world\u2019s not all bad. Consider, the holiday season is approaching. A brand new year is coming soon. And De La Soul<\/a> have a new album out.<\/p>\n

\n\tCabin in the Sky is the U.S. hip-hop veterans\u2019 ninth studio album, and their first since the death of David \u201cTrugoy the Dove\u201d Jolicoeur, who passed away unexpectedly in 2023, and features previously unreleased vocals from the rapper.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Tuesday night, Nov. 25, De La Soul stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live for a medley of cuts from Cabin in the Sky, the followup to 2016\u2019s And the Anonymous Nobody, which opened and peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard 200.<\/p>\n

\n\tKelvin \u201cPosdnuos\u201d Mercer and Vincent \u201cMaseo\u201d Mason\u00a0were in the house for a bouncing one-two hit of \u201cRun It Back\u201d and \u201cThe Package,\u201d the latter complemented by a swinging brass section and visuals inspired by the LP\u2019s heavenly cover art.<\/p>\n

\n\tPos and Maseo recently dropped by Billboard\u2019s offices<\/a> for a photo shoot, an interview and their thoughts on losing their bandmate.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m feeling absolutely beautiful. I\u2019m really happy and proud of this album, proud of all we\u2019ve accomplished,\u201d remarked Pos. \u201cWhen you get to that finish line and you\u2019ve realized things that you\u2019ve had in your mind are now manifested \u2014 and I feel strongly about this album obviously because it\u2019s the first album we\u2019ve done without Dave \u2014 but it\u2019s here in the physical and I can say without question [Dave] is here, his spirit, his energy, it\u2019s very much a part of this album.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPos continued, \u201canything that he had placed in certain songs that we chose to use, all of that is felt. In that regard alone, that\u2019s a success. But I really, really feel like De La fans are going to love this album.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDe La Soul will head out on the road next year<\/a>, including a headline performance Feb. 27, 2026 at Droppin\u2019 Science<\/a> hip-hop night in Melbourne, Australia and a spot at Hamburg, Germany\u2019s Old But Gold Festival July 26.<\/p>\n
