On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> signed their G-League star Drew Timme to a two-way contract, further improving their formidable frontcourt.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Doncic\u2019s 6-foot-11 lob threat, who spent less than two seasons with the franchise, Los Angeles was forced to waive him to make Timme\u2019s signing possible.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the departure became official<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Los Angeles Lakers have signed forward Drew Timme to a two-way contract,\u201d the Lakers stated in a press release. \u201cIn a corresponding move, the team has waived two-way center Christian Koloko.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKoloko was originally signed to a two-way contract by the Lakers Sept. 16, 2024. He appeared in 37 regular-season games in 2024-25, averaging 2.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 9.2 minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some may believe that Koloko didn\u2019t get a fair shake with the Lakers. The former second-round pick was used sparingly in Los Angeles, playing 39 total regular-season games (37 in 2024-25 and two this season), averaging 6.6 minutes per game (9.2 minutes last year and 3.0 minutes this year) under JJ Redick.<\/p>\n

However, with Koloko still being a developmental player who\u2019s rough around the edges, it isn\u2019t preposterous to suggest that Redick was wise for limiting his minutes in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

With Koloko\u2019s high motor and lob-catching ability, though, the Doula Cameroon native will likely find another NBA gig in due time.<\/p>\n
