PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The stars are coming to town for Thursday’s 6abc Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade<\/a>, including Maxwell Simkins from ABC’s hit show Shifting Gears.<\/p>\n

6abc’s Alicia Vitarelli caught up with Simkins ahead of his big appearance. The Ambler native has been busy filming season 2 of “Shifting Gears” alongside Tim Allen and Bryn Mawr’s own Kat Dennings.<\/p>\n

“It’s like a family, almost,” Simkins said. “You all bond so close, and you become like a family, which is funny, because that’s what we play on TV. So, it works. It works.”<\/p>\n

When the parade makes its way along the Ben Franklin Parkway, Simkins will ride the route as fans cheer him on.<\/p>\n

Vitarelli first interviewed Simkins at 6abc studios 11 years ago when he was just 8 years old and starring in “Love the Coopers,” his first-ever TV interview.<\/p>\n

“It was amazing to meet all of these actors and actresses, and then I landed on Disney Channel, and you became a Disney kid, and now an ABC star,” Simkins said.<\/p>\n

His credits also include “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.” He’s now 19. Alongside his role as Carter on “Shifting Gears,” Simkins is also busy writing his own scripts.<\/p>\n

“One of them actually takes place in Philly,” he said. “I’m not gonna give too much away, but it’s actually based on a true story.”<\/p>\n
