Kelly Clarkson<\/a><\/strong> was forced to cancel<\/a> her first two Las Vegas residency shows on July 4 and 5, posting a statement to Instagram<\/a> that said the “prep and rehearsals” for the show have “taken a toll” on her voice.<\/p>\n

“I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow\u2019s opening at Caesars,” wrote Clarkson on Instagram, adding, “I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”<\/p>\n

In the comments, many fans are incredibly upset because they spent a lot of money to come see her perform in Las Vegas, especially because just two hours before the show was canceled, Clarkson posted a rehearsal photo to Instagram<\/a> and wrote, “TONIGHT!!\u00a0#OpeningNight<\/a>#StudioSessions<\/a>#VegasRehearsals<\/a>“, so there was nothing to indicate that anything was amiss.<\/p>\n

On the post from a few hours before showtime, one fan wrote, “Why are you showing this??? She canceled tonight and tomorrow \ud83d\ude21,” to which another fan replied, “She posted this! And THEN cancelled. She didn\u2019t cancel with much notice.”<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m a huge fan and flew here from Boston spending thousands on tickets and hotels to see your show tomorrow for my 40th birthday. I really want you to be healthy but canceling this late has such a huge financial impact on your loyal fans \ud83d\ude2d,” wrote one fan on the cancellation post, to which another fan replied, “Seriously. We came from the East Coast as well. I\u2019m so bummed.”<\/p>\n

Several fans were upset that the announcement didn’t come until 15 minutes before the venue was supposed to open its doors and just one hour before the show was set to begin.<\/p>\n

“She canceled because of health, but mainly because the show isn\u2019t ready. This would have been known days if not weeks in advance. Protecting health :: yes. Not ready the night of with 15 minutes to showtime and people have spent thousands of non-refundable money and time to see you ::: disappointing,” wrote one fan.<\/p>\n

Another wrote, “She canceled an hour before the show is supposed to start. You have to admit that is pretty wild.”<\/p>\n

“When I call out sick, it\u2019s not at the expense of thousands of people. When I call out sick, I better do it wayyyyy before I’m supposed to be there, or I\u2019d probably be fired. Her excuse is crap, too. She\u2019s been singing how long? She knows not to wreck her voice before a show(s). And she didn\u2019t know her voice was messed up before now?” wrote a third fan.<\/p>\n

A fourth fan added, “I wish you would\u2019ve done this sooner than 15 mins before doors opening. I hope you feel better,” to which another fan replied, “Wow 15 mins before is beyond ridic. Doesn\u2019t sound like voice issues to cancel that close to.”<\/p>\n

When one fan called for concertgoers to have some empathy, another fan replied, “Where is her empathy for alllllll the thousands of people who spent months of paychecks to come to this? If she\u2019s telling the truth (which I doubt), and it\u2019s really her voice that is the problem, she should have known way before an hour and a half prior. Typical celebrity selfishness and arrogance.”<\/p>\n

Still, many fans were understanding and advised Clarkson to take care of herself, with one writing, “We know queen Kelly rarely cancels her show. it\u2019s her voice that at risk. let her rest. knowing her personality it must be really really hard and breaking for her to cancel a show. she loves her fans.”<\/p>\n

Another fan wrote, “Love you queen! Was so excited to see you tomorrow night, but your health and well-being are more important. Take time for you and rest up. We\u2019ll see you in August. Cannot wait \u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f.”<\/p>\n

Clarkson’s Studio Sessions residency at Caesar’s Palace was scheduled to run from July 4 to August 16. It will now start on July 11 and run through the same date, then it picks back up in November for just one week of performances from the 7th to the 15th.<\/p>\n
