NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. \u2014 Hundreds of people went to Neptune Beach for the annual \u201cPetesgiving\u201d celebration Thursday. <\/p>\n
For some people, Petesgiving – named after historic Pete\u2019s Bar – is a part of their Thanksgiving. For others, it was their first time. <\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s seven months old,\u201d said Stephanie Gustafsson about her daughter. \u201cWe know it\u2019s such an important tradition to Jacksonville we want to share memories with her like this.\u201d<\/p>\n
To commemorate 40 years of this annual Thanksgiving tradition, the Mayor of Neptune Beach dedicated part of 1st street as \u2018Pete Jensen Way,\u2019 founding owner of Pete\u2019s Bar.<\/p>\n
\u201cPete Jensen and his family were really one of the first founding families in Neptune Beach when it was established in 1931,\u201d said Neptune Beach Mayor Cori Bylund. \u201cPete\u2019s has continued to be a great community partner.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jason Hamachek has been attending Petesgiving for the past 5 years. He hopes the tradition will continue to live on. <\/p>\n
\u201cThats what Thanksgiving is all about, family,\u201d said Hamachek.<\/p>\n
