The USS Abraham Lincoln<\/a> quietly departed from San Diego last week with the Navy releasing little information about its new deployment.<\/p>\n

The nonprofit U.S Naval Institute reported<\/a> that the nuclear-powered supercarrier departed Nov. 21 with Carrier Air Wing 9 from Naval Air Station Lemoore<\/a> and the guided-missile cruiser USS Frank E. Peteresen Jr. from Pearl Harbor.<\/p>\n

In recent years the Navy has chosen not to announce many carrier deployments, though it still publicizes the giant warships\u2019 homecomings.<\/p>\n

The Lincoln returned for a 162-day deployment in December 2024 and was undergoing routine maintenance and training at Naval Air Station North Island.<\/p>\n

The new deployment received recognition from former Vice President Mike Pence, who posted a congratulatory message on X.<\/p>\n
