{"id":409751,"date":"2025-11-28T03:20:15","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T03:20:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/409751\/"},"modified":"2025-11-28T03:20:15","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T03:20:15","slug":"san-antonio-zoo-welcomes-new-gorillas-as-part-of-congo-falls-habitat-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/409751\/","title":{"rendered":"San Antonio Zoo welcomes new gorillas as part of Congo Falls habitat debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN ANTONIO \u2014 The first group of gorillas have been delivered to the San Antonio Zoo and we have  a sneak peak at the new stars before their big debut.<\/p>\n<p>Three female gorillas, Andi, Merry, and Anaka recently made the move from the Atlanta zoo as part of the Gorilla Species Survival Plan as well as the highly-anticipated opening of the Congo Falls habitat.<\/p>\n<p>On Thanksgiving, the zoo also welcomed Ajari, a 25-year-old male western lowland gorilla. This marks the return of western lowland gorillas to San Antonio for the first time in 35 years.<\/p>\n<p>Congo Falls is set to open at 10:00 a.m. on Dec. 13. In total, the zoo says the new habitat will open with 7 western lowland gorillas.
