The Chicago area will see one more day of hot and humid temperatures before a storm system arrives, providing multiple chances of showers and storms in coming days.<\/p>\n
According to the NBC 5 Storm Team, high temperatures Saturday are expected to soar into the mid-90s, with heat indices right around 100 degrees thanks to dewpoints in the low-70s.<\/p>\n
Most of the day should remain dry, but in the late evening hours a storm system is expected to push closer to the Chicago area, bringing with it a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be strong, according to forecast models.<\/p>\n
The main threats with any storms that develop will be gusty winds and heavy rain, which could lead to localized flooding with some of the larger cells.<\/p>\n
Those showers and storms are expected to stick around into the overnight hours and will likely remain in the forecast for most of the day Sunday, with hit-or-miss precipitation expected into the afternoon.<\/p>\n
Temperatures will be quite a bit cooler across the area as well, with highs in the low-to-mid 80s, according to the NBC 5 Storm Team. Dewpoints will still be slightly elevated, pushing the heat index to around 90 degrees across the area.<\/p>\n
Once the storm system moves fully out of the area, cooler temperatures will stick around and the humidity will drop, paving the way for a pleasant Monday, with highs in the low-80s, according to forecast models.<\/p>\n
Another chance of showers and storms will arrive Tuesday, with high temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s across the area. Those temperatures will likely stay in place for the rest of the week, with sporadic chances of rain.<\/p>\n
