The death toll from the devastating Texas floods<\/a> has risen to 24, officials revealed Friday night \u2014 as about two dozen girls from a Christian summer camp remain missing.<\/p>\n

Texas officials said between 23 to 25 kids from Camp Mystic remain unaccounted for after the Guadalupe River swelled above its banks during a freak early morning rainstorm.<\/p>\n

Twenty-four fatalities have been confirmed from the disaster, though it\u2019s unclear if any of the victims were related to the camp.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One victim was found in Kendall County, but authorities aren\u2019t sure if it\u2019s connected to the primary flood in Kerr County.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As of late Friday, 237 people have been rescued from the floods, including 167 by helicopter, officials said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear how many people are still missing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott,\u00a0during a Friday night press conference, signed a disaster declaration for a slew of counties in and around San Antonio, promising to make every necessary resource available to those affected by the flood.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will stop at nothing to ensure that every asset and person and plan, whatever is needed, is going to be involved in the process of rescuing every last person,\u201d Abbott said.<\/p>\n

Officials urged Texans to avoid the areas affected by the floods as rescue operations continue.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier on Friday, some efforts were stalled after desperate relatives rushed to the river to try and help search for their loved ones.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The mother of 9-year-old camper Lainey Landry\u00a0told CNN<\/a>\u00a0her missing daughter was \u201cbrave and sweet.\u201d Eloise Peck, of Dallas, was in the same cabin as several friends who have also been reported missing,\u00a0her parents told Fox 4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hadley Hanna\u2019s parents\u00a0told WFAA<\/a>\u00a0that they rushed to Hunt to assist for the search when they learned their 8-year-old daughter was among the girls confirmed missing.<\/p>\n

The Guadalupe River previously flooded across Kerr County\u00a0in 1987<\/a>, overtaking a church bus and killing 10 teenagers.<\/p>\n
