Lamine Yamal did not have his best night in Barcelona\u2019s terrible loss to Chelsea in the Champions League in midweek, with the teenager having to deal with plenty of criticism for his performance against Spain teammate and Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella. But the teenager\u2019s coach is still backing him.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Hansi Flick was asked about Yamal\u2019s physical and mental condition following his struggle and reaction to his substitution midway through the second half at Stamford Bridge, but the coach says Lamine is feeling good and issued a public challenge for the teenager to remind the world of his quality in the games to come.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cLamine is fine and feels good. Many players aren\u2019t happy when we substitute them. I was a player myself, and many times I didn\u2019t react as I should have. Cucurella is one of the best full-backs in the world; he\u2019s a very good player, very intelligent. But, for me, now it\u2019s Lamine\u2019s turn to step up and show that we have to forget the Chelsea game. Now is the time for him to show how good he is.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Yamal was playing really well and looking very healthy in the three or four games prior to the Chelsea match, and the simple truth is he ran into one of the very best defensive full-backs in Europe in Cucurella who had an inspired night.
