From drafting Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 pick to signing D’Angelo Russell in free agency, the Mavericks have had a successful start to their summer.

While Luka Doncic getting traded to the Los Angeles Lakers and Kyrie Irving’s injury clouded any positives in Dallas for a few months, things are beginning to look better. After the Doncic move and Irving’s injury, some around the league speculated if Dallas was even a place anyone would want to play.

Any remaining thoughts on that were silenced with a recent move. The Mavericks recently agreed to a deal with Dante Exum, bringing the Australian guard back for another season.

When the deal was initially reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, he wrote that Exum chose the Mavericks over two other contenders. Recently, SNY’s Ian Begley gave some clarity on one of those contenders.

Begley reported that the Knicks were one of the teams that Exum considered before ultimately returning to Dallas, which gives him a bigger opportunity as Irving recovers. While the term “contender” can be thrown around loosely at times when used like Charania did, the Knicks absolutely fit the description of a true contender.

With the Eastern Conference wide open next season, the Knicks are in a prime position to potentially make a run to the NBA Finals. Considering the Knicks’ position, Exum’s decision only solidifies Dallas as a dark-horse contender going into next year.

The Dallas Mavericks have been making moves in the offseason and have something to be proud of with…

[5135
5229,2494,23296,1596,3139,32552,32553,8606,11018,3141,3365,7193,358,11019,3187,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
0":"post-41119","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-dallas","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-cooper-flagg","10":"tag-dangelo-russell","11":"tag-dallas","12":"tag-dallas-mavericks","13":"tag-dante-exum","14":"tag-ian-begley","15":"tag-knicks","16":"tag-kyrie-irving","17":"tag-los-angeles-lakers","18":"tag-luka-doncic","19":"tag-shams-charania","20":"tag-texas","21":"tag-the-mavericks","22":"tag-tx","23":"tag-united-states","24":"tag-united-states-of-america","25":"tag-unitedstates","26":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","27":"tag-us","28":"tag-usa
["GET
