{"id":411816,"date":"2025-11-29T01:36:14","date_gmt":"2025-11-29T01:36:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/411816\/"},"modified":"2025-11-29T01:36:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-29T01:36:14","slug":"pro-palestinian-protesters-arrested-trying-to-block-black-friday-sales-at-nyc-apple-store","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/411816\/","title":{"rendered":"Pro-Palestinian protesters arrested trying to block Black Friday sales at NYC Apple Store"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cops arrested four protesters who tried to block the entrance of the Midtown Apple Store during a Black Friday sale, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/10\/01\/shootings-hit-record-low-victims-get-younger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">police<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>A coalition of about 70 protesters, including pro-Palestinian demonstrators, holding signs reading, \u201cThink before you buy\u201d and \u201cIsrael is killing children,\u201d and waving Palestinian flags, stopped outside the Apple Store on Fifth Ave. at E. 59th St. across from Central Park, where salespersons were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/shop\/gifts\/shopping-event?afid=p240%7Cgo~cmp-22017220465~adg-172212794869~ad-782597577553_kwd-6854520494~dev-c~ext-~prd-~mca-~nt-search&amp;cid=aos-us-kwgo-brand-ase-launch-112825-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">offering Apple gift cards of up to $250 for each purchase as part of a Black Friday promotion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>More than a dozen cops were on hand to quickly handcuff protesters who refused to move from the scene or fought back against the officers.<\/p>\n<p>Four protesters were handcuffed and detained. Charges were not immediately filed, an NYPD spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p>Ali Hassan, who mans a hotdog stand on the corner of Fifth Ave. and E. 59th St., saw two people get arrested about 20 minutes into the protest, which lasted for another 40 minutes after the arrests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey arrested two people,\u201d Hassan said. \u201cThey shoved the police officer, so they took them away. This was early in the protest.\u201d<b><br \/><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Another sidewalk vendor a block south on E. 58th St. who only gave her first name, Diane, said she witnessed three of the four arrests. The protesters \u201cgot a little rowdy,\u201d she said. \u201cAnytime I ever see protests coming down the Fifth Ave., everybody\u2019s usually pretty decent. This was the first time I\u2019ve ever seen any arrests.\u201d<b><br \/><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey had drums, almost like a little band. They were playing music,\u201d she said of the scene. \u201cAnd then something happened. Somebody started pushing. Cops were telling them they weren\u2019t allowed on the property.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Diane said she saw cops arrest two women and a man. The man, who did not appear injured, \u201cwent limp\u201d after police handcuffed him, she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know how a protester, when they get arrested, they kind of go limp, like a little kid does?\u201d she said. \u201cThat same guy went out in an ambulance. He was on the ground for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The protesters claimed the tech giant benefits from exploitative cobalt mining in the Congo, and also slammed what they called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/apple-removes-iceblock-ice-tracker-from-app-store\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apple\u2019s ties to ICE<\/a> and President Trump.<\/p>\n<p>The protesters continued south along Fifth Ave. after the arrests, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>The Black Friday demonstration occurred not far from the Park East Synagogue on E. 67th St., where pro-Palestinian protesters on Nov. 19 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/11\/23\/nypd-commissioner-jessica-tisch-apologizes-to-synagogue-congregation-for-protest-response\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">held a tumultuous rally<\/a> at which participants screamed \u201cIntifada!\u201d \u201cDeath to the IDF!\u201d and \u201cResistance! Take another settler out!\u201d as members of Nefesh B\u2019Nefesh \u2014 an organization that assists Jewish immigration to Israel from the U.S. and Canada \u2014 were holding a program inside.<\/p>\n<p>Pro-Israel advocates and Jewish leaders\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urj.org\/press-room\/reform-jewish-leaders-statement-anti-zionist-protest-new-yorks-park-east-synagogue\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/urj.org\/press-room\/reform-jewish-leaders-statement-anti-zionist-protest-new-yorks-park-east-synagogue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blasted the protest<\/a>\u00a0as antisemitic, and Gov.
