After weeks of operating in borrowed space and relying on community support, the studio has announced that all in-person classes will resume at a new location: 180 West 80th Street (just east of Amsterdam Avenue), Mezzanine Level, beginning Saturday, December 6.<\/p>\n The news comes as the studio\u2019s GoFundMe campaign<\/a> continues to gain traction, now surpassing $43,000 in donations toward its $200,000 goal. The fundraiser was launched<\/a> shortly after the October 27 blaze<\/a> that damaged the building at 140 West 83rd Street, where NY Loves Yoga had been operating since 2011. <\/p>\n The business tells ILTUWS that they\u2019ll have the new space for a year, while the West 83rd Street restoration continues.<\/p>\n In an Instagram post<\/a> shared earlier this week, the team wrote, \u201cWe Have A New Yoga Home!\u201d and invited the community to celebrate the move at a December 5 gathering in the new space. The post also included a public thank-you to Marco and the team at Momentum Fitness, the Columbus Avenue gym that housed NY Loves Yoga\u2019s classes throughout November.<\/p>\n Momentum Fitness, located at 246 Columbus Avenue, stepped in almost immediately after the fire. Just three days after the incident, NY Loves Yoga shared a message<\/a> saying, \u201cThanks to our incredible UWS neighbors at @momentumfitnessnyc<\/a>, who have so generously opened their doors to us\u2026 we are back for in person classes with the teachers you know and love!\u201d Teachers and students met there throughout the month while the studio worked to secure a temporary plan and assess the damage to its original space.<\/p>\n The partnership went well beyond simply sharing a room. Marco, the owner of Momentum Fitness, is listed among the highest contributors on the GoFundMe page, personally donating $1,000 to the rebuilding effort. NY Loves Yoga called him \u201ca true saint\u201d in its relocation announcement, underscoring the role one small business played in helping another get back on its feet.<\/p>\n NY Loves Yoga will resume its full class schedule on December 6, with a community celebration planned for the evening of December 5.
