Jessica Simpson<\/a> and her estranged husband, Eric Johnson<\/a>, put on a united front for Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n The singer, actress and businesswoman told TMZ<\/a> that \u201cof course\u201d she spent the holiday with Johnson, who joined her and the rest of the family at Simpson\u2019s mother Tina\u2019s<\/a> house.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s my kids\u2019 father,\u201d she explained. \u201cAnd all their grandparents [were there], they have a lot of \u2018em. Family first.\u201d<\/p>\n Simpson, 45, and Johnson, 46, are parents to daughters Maxwell Drew<\/a>, 13, and Birdie Mae<\/a>, 6, and son Ace Knute<\/a>, 12. The pair announced their separation in January<\/a> after nearly 10 years of marriage.<\/p>\n When asked by the outlet if she had any advice to share with anyone going through a breakup or divorce during the holiday season, the star maintained that \u201cunconditional love\u2019s important.\u201d<\/p>\n Amy Sussman\/Getty<\/p>\n Jessica Simpson at the Los Angeles premiere of All’s Fair in October.<\/p>\n \u201cNo matter what, your kid is half the other person, and [you should] always have respect in what you say around them so they can always have a good perspective on it,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n The \u201cWith You\u201d singer also shared that her mom, Tina, did most of the cooking on Thanksgiving, while she and sister Ashlee<\/a>, 41, watched the Dallas Cowboys.<\/p>\n Simpson, who released parts one and two of her Nashville Canyon<\/a> EP earlier this year, is set to perform at Foxwood Casino in Connecticut on Dec. 7. It\u2019s where their dad played,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd they saw a huge billboard that was promoting [my] show, so they were like, \u2018Mom!!!\u2019 [They] sent me pictures.\u201d<\/p>\n In October, Simpson spoke to PEOPLE about learning to take life\u2019s twists and turns<\/a> in stride in the wake of her split from Johnson.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like we get caught up in numbers. Like, \u2018Oh, at 45, would I think that I would be single again as a mom of three?\u2019 Absolutely not,\u201d she said. \u201cThat was not how I planned it. But it\u2019s just a part of what destiny holds for me.\u201d<\/p>\n That same month, she told Extra at the premiere of All\u2019s Fair, in which she has a cameo, that she\u2019s been making the most of her singledom<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI think I’m into younger men at the moment.
