{"id":41282,"date":"2025-07-05T17:27:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T17:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/41282\/"},"modified":"2025-07-05T17:27:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T17:27:09","slug":"michael-busch-makes-quirky-cubs-history-in-big-win-nbc-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/41282\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Busch makes quirky Cubs history in big win \u2013 NBC Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Chicago Cubs made some history of their own with a home run barrage against the St. Louis Cardinals, but Michael Busch etched his name in history too.<\/p>\n<p>The Cubs bashed eight home runs against the Cardinals on the Fourth of July, setting a team record for most home runs in a single game.<\/p>\n<p>Of those, Busch was responsible for three of them as the Cubs cruised to an 11-3 victory on the holiday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stathead.com\/baseball\/player-batting-game-finder.cgi?request=1&amp;timeframe=seasons&amp;ccomp%5B1%5D=gt&amp;cval%5B1%5D=3&amp;cstat%5B1%5D=b_hr&amp;team_id=CHC&amp;opp_team_id=STL\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/stathead.com\/baseball\/player-batting-game-finder.cgi?request=1&amp;timeframe=seasons&amp;ccomp%5B1%5D=gt&amp;cval%5B1%5D=3&amp;cstat%5B1%5D=b_hr&amp;team_id=CHC&amp;opp_team_id=STL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to Baseball Reference\u2019s Stathead tool<\/a>, Busch became just the third Cubs player to hit three home runs in a game against the Cardinals, joining Moises Alou and Hank Leiber in that category.<\/p>\n<p>The kicker? All three times a Cubs player has hit three home runs against the Cardinals, the games have been played on the Fourth of July at Wrigley Field.<\/p>\n<p>Alou\u2019s three-homer game came on July 4, 2003, though the Cubs lost 11-8 in that game. Leiber smacked three home runs in the first game of a doubleheader on July 4, 1939, but the Cubs lost that game as well.<\/p>\n<p>Joining Busch in the home run parade were Seiya Suzuki, Dansby Swanson and Carson Kelly.
