(FOX 5\/KUSI) \u2014 A police pursuit that began in Los Angeles early Saturday morning and stretched across multiple counties ended in Carlsbad, where the suspect was taken into custody, authorities confirmed to FOX 5\/KUSI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to the Los Angeles Police Department\u2019s North Hollywood Division, officers attempted to stop a Mercedes four-door sedan after learning the vehicle had an outstanding warrant. It\u2019s unclear whether the driver ever initially pulled over, but police say the suspect quickly fled, prompting a pursuit at high speeds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The chase began shortly before 3 a.m. near the 405 southbound and 105 freeway interchange. LAPD pursued the vehicle onto the 405 before California Highway Patrol officers took over as the driver continued onto the 605 and eventually the southbound 5 freeway. Despite that, the suspect continued driving at speeds of about 65 mph for several miles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Orange County CHP dispatch confirmed they took over the pursuit on the 5 freeway at approximately 3:28 a.m., handing it off to San Diego-area units around 3:49 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">CHP San Diego dispatch confirmed to FOX 5\/KUSI that the pursuit ended near I-5 and Poinsettia Lane in Carlsbad, where the suspect was finally taken into custody.
