The Federal Aviation Administration<\/a> issued a ground stop for flights departing other cities to DFW International Airport<\/a> on Saturday afternoon due to thunderstorms.<\/p>\n

The stop was initially issued at 2:57 p.m. and has since been updated to last until 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

As of 5:38 p.m., the FAA changed the ground stop to a ground delay, which is expected to last until 10:29 p.m.<\/p>\n

The FAA said the average delay ranges from 15-43 minutes.<\/p>\n

FlightAware data<\/a> showed that 650 flights have been delayed and 74 canceled as of 5:38 p.m.<\/p>\n

The stop comes as a strong cold front<\/a> is expected to bring freezing temperatures, rain and wind to the area Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The same front has brought a major snowstorm to the Midwest and Great Lakes<\/a>, bringing winter to some holiday travelers<\/a>.<\/p>\n
