{"id":413981,"date":"2025-11-30T00:49:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-30T00:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/413981\/"},"modified":"2025-11-30T00:49:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-30T00:49:12","slug":"tommy-devito-ready-to-help-patriots-defeat-giants-hope-we-blow-them-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/413981\/","title":{"rendered":"Tommy DeVito ready to help Patriots defeat Giants: &#8216;Hope we blow them out&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Is Tommy DeVito a snitch?<\/p>\n<p>The favorite son of North Jersey \u2014 who <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/27\/sports\/tommy-devitos-giants-run-ends-as-patriots-claim-qb-on-waivers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was claimed off waivers from the Giants by the Patriots<\/a> at the end of training camp \u2014 is expected to be inactive for the 13th\u00a0straight game Monday against his former team.<\/p>\n<p>He is the third-string quarterback behind Drake Maye and Joshua Dobbs.<\/p>\n<p>So, there hasn\u2019t been a chicken cutlet craze in the \u201cNorth End\u201d of Boston or autograph hounds lined up for his attention like when DeVito was playing for the Giants and became an icon to the Italian subset of the fan base. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI loved my time there,\u201d DeVito told MassLive.com. \u201cWhen I was there, it was, \u2018Go Giants\u2019 but now it\u2019s \u2018Go Pats\u2019 all the way. Corey Sipkin for the NY Post<\/p>\n<p>DeVito, who will be a restricted free agent after the season, went 3-5 with eight touchdown passes and three interceptions over two seasons in New York.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeVito, in my opinion, is a starter in this league,\u201d interim coach Mike Kafka said. \u201cAlways brought energy. A guy that I\u2019m proud of for where he began \u2014 as a tryout-type guy \u2014 and stepping up and learning to be a pro. When he got his opportunity, he took advantage of it. Won some big games for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DT Dexter Lawrence (elbow) and CB Paulson Adebo (knee) were not given injury designations and will play.<\/p>\n<p>OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux (shoulder) is out for the third straight game.<\/p>\n<p>Could he miss the rest of the season?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s too soon to tell,\u201d Kafka said. \u201cHe\u2019s working his tail off to get back and get better. That\u2019s No. 1. No. 2, I\u2019ve been doing this a long time and I\u2019ve seen all kinds of weird things happen. My first thought process went to, \u2018How do we keep the players motivated, excited and ready to go play?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Kafka made the decision on which way he wanted to go, I accepted it. I\u2019m going to help [Bullen] out the best way I can because it doesn\u2019t validate who I am as a coach. I\u2019ve been there, I\u2019ve done it, I\u2019ve had success doing it. The Giants chose what they thought was the best way to go. That\u2019s their choice. It\u2019s not mine. A 32-year-old Dre probably wouldn\u2019t have handled it very well.
