Ed Sheeran had an hours-long conversation with pal Taylor Swift after her engagement to Travis Kelce \u2014 despite rumors that he and the \u201cBlank Space\u201d songstress are at odds<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not self-conscious about my relationship with her,\u201d Sheeran told Access Hollywood<\/a> during a new interview. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been friends <\/a>for very, very many years,\u201d he added. \u201cWe\u2019re super close and we see each other when we see each other, and when we see each other, we lock back into where we left off.\u201d <\/p>\n

Sheeran \u2014 who seemingly found out about Swift\u2019s engagement<\/a> along with the public, due to the fact that he limits cell phone and social media use \u2014 also addressed speculation that their friendship became \u201cstrained\u201d<\/a> after she dropped \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl\u201d just weeks after he dropped his \u201cPlay\u201d album.<\/p>\n

Sheeran told Access Hollywood they \u201chad like a four-hour catch-up.\u201d Sirius XM<\/p>\n

\u201cMy way of viewing it is like, me and Taylor are mates and I will see her,\u201d he told the outlet. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I saw her a week after that happened, so I did that interview and then I saw her and you talk in person,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

He added that when he saw the \u201cCruel Summer\u201d singer they \u201chad like a four-hour catch-up and it\u2019s life stuff rather than, like, I don\u2019t know, you know what I mean?\u201d <\/p>\n

Acknowledging his lack of cell phone accessibility, Sheeran lamented how social media can affect human relationships.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been friends for very, very many years,\u201d Sheeran told the outlet. WireImage<\/p>\n

The comments come after speculation their friendship was \u201cstrained\u201d by the timing of their respective album releases. WireImage<\/p>\n

News of Swift\u2019s engagement<\/a> to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce broke in August, with the pair taking to Instagram to share the big news. <\/p>\n

Before Sheeran performed at the SiriuxSM Small Stage Series concert\u00a0in New York City days later, Andy Cohen asked how he found out about his longtime friend\u2019s engagement.<\/p>\n

Sheeran, 34, subsequently released his eighth album on Sept. 12, with Swift on his heels with the massive rollout of \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl\u201d<\/a> on Oct. 3. <\/p>\n

A music industry insider\u00a0told the Daily Mail\u00a0in October that the singer was \u201cpeeved\u201d by Swift\u2019s timing. <\/p>\n

\u201cEd takes these things really seriously, and carefully plans his album releases,\u201d the source told the outlet last month.<\/p>\n
