{"id":414190,"date":"2025-11-30T03:02:31","date_gmt":"2025-11-30T03:02:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/414190\/"},"modified":"2025-11-30T03:02:31","modified_gmt":"2025-11-30T03:02:31","slug":"winter-storm-warning-in-effect-for-chicago-area-with-6-to-12-inches-of-snowfall-possible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/414190\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter storm warning in effect for Chicago area with 6 to 12 inches of snowfall possible"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A winter storm warning is in effect in the Chicago area that could bring up to 6-12 inches of snow in some areas through Sunday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The warning took effect overnight Saturday and continues through 6 a.m. on Sunday for all of the Chicago area and northwest Indiana.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Widespread snowfall totals of 6 to 8 inches have been recorded across the area, including 6.9 inches at O&#8217;Hare as of 6 p.m. This breaks the daily snowfall record at O&#8217;Hare and makes Saturday the fifth snowiest November day on record, at least so far. A few more inches of snow are expected overnight, so it&#8217;s likely today will go down as the snowiest November day in Chicago in 50 years.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/24f5d59c-e01f-4608-ac29-862c6a63a8f5.png#.png\" alt=\"24f5d59c-e01f-4608-ac29-862c6a63a8f5.png \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                CBS<\/p>\n<p>The snow arrived late Friday night and became widespread by 7 a.m. on Saturday. The heaviest snow fell on Saturday between noon and 6 p.m., reaching 1 to 2 inches per hour.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/9fa0e1b6-ad4e-4fec-b8f4-faf8c6b65bad.png#.png\" alt=\"9fa0e1b6-ad4e-4fec-b8f4-faf8c6b65bad.png \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Those who have to be out are advised to allow for extra travel time and to drive slowly, as slick travel is still a factor.<\/p>\n<p>Snow totals Saturday<\/p>\n<p>Some areas in the Chicago area have recorded snow totals nearing 8 inches. So far, Evanston and Oak Brook Terrace are reporting 8-inch totals, while Mount Prospect, Aurora, and McHenry have seen 7 inches of snow. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/snow-reports-3.png#.png\" alt=\"snow-reports-3.png \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/snow-reports2.png#.png\" alt=\"snow-reports2.png \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>CBS News Chicago will continue to provide updates on snow totals. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Snow continues into Sunday and Monday<\/p>\n<p>Between 1 to 3 inches are expected overnight through early Sunday morning. By the afternoon, a few lake-enhanced snow showers are expected. Blowing and drifting snow is expected as winds gust up to 30 mph.
