The hottest coaching name on the market is expected to make a final call between remaining at Ole Miss, which is on the precipice of its first College Football Playoff appearance in program history<\/a>, and leaving for LSU, which is searching for a new coach after it made the decision to fire Brian Kelly<\/a> in October amid a 5-3 start to the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Florida was once in the running for Kiffin, but it seems as if the Gators have fallen out of the race<\/a> as they hunt for a Billy Napier replacement. Kiffin confirmed Friday afternoon after Ole Miss’ 38-19 win against rival Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl that he feels he has to decide on his future Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I got to do some praying and figure this thing out,” Kiffin said. “I can get to that tomorrow. I live life about one day at a time. Maybe that doesn’t help you, but I’ve learned to live that way for about six years now, five years. That helps me.”<\/p>\n

Further complicating matters is the fact that Ole Miss is in contention for the SEC Championship Game. No. 16 Texas beat No. 3 Texas A&M Friday evening, which knocked the Aggies out of the race. If Auburn upsets No. 10 Alabama Saturday, that would set the table for a rematch between Ole Miss and No. 4 Georgia — the only team to beat the Rebels this season — in Atlanta.\u00a0<\/p>\n
