PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 Travelers returned home from spending Thanksgiving with family and friends, making Sunday the busiest travel day of the year, as storms across the Midwest and Great Lakes threatened to complicate cross-country flights.<\/p>\n
At Philadelphia International Airport, travelers Jackie and Emily, returning from Florida, said the process from check-in to baggage claim went smoothly.<\/p>\n
“It was great, no problems,” Jackie said.<\/p>\n
“The cold here sucks,” added Emily.<\/p>\n
Jackie said her flight went well despite the cold.<\/p>\n
“That\u2019s how great it flew, no problems and I flew Frontier, it was awesome,” she said.<\/p>\n
John, who was traveling to see friends in South Jersey, was surprised at the large crowds, but things moved faster than he expected.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was packed, but I boarded the flight at 4 a.m., so it wasn\u2019t that busy, and we walked right through security,\u201d he said. \u201cNot even a 5 minute wait time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Scott was making his way to South Philly, and he wanted to get ahead of the weather, so he made a plan to travel early.<\/p>\n
\u201c I did it. I got there before the crowd, but I paid for it because I stayed up all night,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
With the weather in the Midwest expected to complicate matters for travelers, be sure to check your flight status before heading out.
