Following the successful launch of the Transporter-15 mission, SpaceX seamlessly landed another Falcon 9 booster on a droneship in the middle of the ocean.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was the booster\u2019s 30th flight, a scenario that seemed impossible before SpaceX became a dominant force in spaceflight.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elon Musk celebrates a veteran Falcon 9 booster\u2019s feat<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SpaceX completed another major milestone for its Smallsat Rideshare program on Friday, successfully launching and deploying 140 spacecraft aboard a Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The mission, known as Transporter-15, lifted off two days later than planned after a scrub attributed to a ground systems issue, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/spaceflightnow.com\/2025\/11\/28\/live-coverage-spacex-to-launch-140-spacecraft-on-transporter-15-rideshare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SpaceFlight Now<\/a>. SpaceX confirmed that all payloads designed to separate from the rocket were deployed as planned.<\/p>\n<p>The Falcon 9 used for this flight was booster B1071, one of SpaceX\u2019s most heavily flown rockets. With its 30th mission completed, it becomes the second booster in SpaceX\u2019s fleet to reach that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teslarati.com\/spacex-starship-program-already-bouncing-back-booster-18-fiasco\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">milestone<\/a>. B1071\u2019s manifest includes five National Reconnaissance Office missions, NASA\u2019s SWOT satellite, and several previous rideshare deployments, among others. Elon Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1994507674327912803?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">celebrated<\/a> the milestone on X, writing \u201c30 flights of the same rocket!\u201d in his post.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Skeptics once dismissed reusability as unfeasible<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While rocket landings are routine for SpaceX today, that was not always the case. He took issue with Elon Musk\u2019s claims at the time, <a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/science\/2016\/07\/expendable-rocket-builders-cast-doubt-on-viability-of-reusable-rockets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ars Technica<\/a> reported, particularly when the SpaceX founder stated that fuel costs account for just a fraction of launch costs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Goldberg noted that at most, studies showed only a 30% cost reduction for low-Earth orbit missions by using a reusable rocket. \u201cYou\u2019re not going to get 100-fold. These numbers aren\u2019t going to change by an order of magnitude. They\u2019re just not.
