The Wheeling resident writes, \u201cIt is an interesting part of Chicago history and the sunsets here are magnificent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n        FIRST PLACE: Brad Hofbauer\u2019s cellphone photo of the smokestacks and tower of the old Acme Steel Company\u2019s coke plant, located in South Deering on Chicago\u2019s southeast side. The plant was shut down in 2001.<br \/>\n         Brad Hofbauer of Wheeling\n            <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">In second place is Mike Nielsen\u2019s touching photo of two fawns competing to get some nourishment from mom. The Lisle resident writes, \u201cI felt blessed to see this fawn nursing on its mother \u2026 Just wonderful!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1751750351_610_\" id=\"bodyImage943bf63e-9b9f-5bb8-81c7-3ee65d020ef0\" data-collection=\"30f90dc06324aeda447268bf8f287ea695adae45\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\n        SECOND PLACE: A doe nurses two fawns along a path at Fullersburg Woods Forest Preserve in Oak Brook.<br \/>\n         Mike Nielsen of Lisle\n            <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">Third place goes to Jerry Peterson\u2019s photo capturing a young girl striving to get a view of a total solar eclipse at a site near Carbondale. The Algonquin resident writes, \u201cI love the natural, peaceful beauty of this photo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1751750352_188_\" id=\"bodyImagefa58aa0e-87e6-58a0-8ed3-fcac97657d6a\" data-collection=\"30f90dc06324aeda447268bf8f287ea695adae45\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\n        FOURTH PLACE: A young white-tailed deer takes a cooling dip in the water at The Grove in Glenview.<br \/>\n         Marilyn McNichols of Algonquin\n            <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__body\">An honorable mention goes to Matthew Davis for this photo of a fierce, but slightly comical-looking eagle standing over its kill.
