Two students were robbed at gunpoint last night near West Lot 2 on Rice University\u2019s campus,<\/a> according to the Rice University Police Department.<\/p>\n

The incident was reported at 8:19 p.m. Sunday night, and fortunately, neither student was injured during the robbery.<\/p>\n

RUPD said three male suspects in their 20s, all with slim athletic builds, were involved. One suspect was described as wearing a gray beanie, green top, and gray pajama pants.<\/p>\n

Sources confirmed the suspects stole a cell phone from one of the students but returned the victim\u2019s backpack.<\/p>\n

After the robbery, the suspects fled on foot toward Rice Boulevard and University Entrance 17 and have not been identified or caught. Rice University Police are reviewing campus video footage to identify the suspects and have increased patrols in the area.<\/p>\n

University officials are urging students and staff to stay alert, avoid walking alone in isolated areas, and report any suspicious activity immediately.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, another Rice student was involved in a violent robbery during a meetup to sell a computer.<\/p>\n

Anyone who sees individuals matching the descriptions or notices suspicious behavior on campus should not approach them but call RUPD at 713-348-6000.<\/p>\n
