{"id":418046,"date":"2025-12-01T21:36:20","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T21:36:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/418046\/"},"modified":"2025-12-01T21:36:20","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T21:36:20","slug":"cal-foote-signs-with-ahls-chicago-wolves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/418046\/","title":{"rendered":"Cal Foote Signs With AHL&#8217;s Chicago Wolves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The AHL\u2019s Chicago Wolves <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Chicago_Wolves\/status\/1995532516527088036\" rel=\"nofollow\">announced<\/a> Monday they\u2019ve signed free agent defenseman\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/footeca01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-12-01_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Callan Foote<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>for the balance of the 2025-26 campaign.<\/p>\n<p>There wasn\u2019t any reported NHL interest in Foote, who\u2019s technically eligible to return to top-level game action. He, along with his four Hockey Canada teammates who were acquitted on sexual assault charges over the offseason, were still <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prohockeyrumors.com\/2025\/09\/carter-hart-found-not-guilty-in-hockey-canada-sexual-assault-trial.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">suspended by the league as a result of the allegations made against them<\/a>, but were fully reinstated as of today.<\/p>\n<p>While Foote was a first-round pick in 2017, his recent resume has been uninspiring. He played in the Slovak Extraliga last season while awaiting trial. He recorded three goals and 30 points in 38 games for HK 32 Liptovsky Mikulas with a -8 rating. That led the team in scoring among defensemen, but he hasn\u2019t played an NHL game since January 2024 and was limited to nine points and a -14 rating in 24 games with AHL Utica that season while in the Devils\u2019 system.<\/p>\n<p>The 6\u20194\u2033 shutdown righty now lands in the Hurricanes\u2019 system, although they don\u2019t acquire his exclusive signing rights. He\u2019s still an unrestricted free agent and is eligible to accept and sign any NHL offer. Carolina had <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prohockeyrumors.com\/2025\/10\/hurricanes-linked-to-michael-mcleod.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">expressed interest in signing<\/a>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hartca01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-12-01_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Carter Hart<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcleomi01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-12-01_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Michael McLeod<\/a><\/strong>, both of whom were charged alongside Foote, but ultimately decided not to offer deals.<\/p>\n<p>Foote has made 145 NHL appearances in parts of four seasons. Drafted by the Lightning, he\u2019s also suited up for Nashville and New Jersey.
