Right off Rittenhouse Square, Dancerobot<\/a> looks unassuming. But open its big wooden doors, and you\u2019re greeted by vibey neon lights and vintage Japanese movie posters. This 1980s-inspired follow-up<\/a> from Royal Sushi & Izakaya<\/a>\u2019s Jesse Ito and Justin Bacharach serves yoshoku cuisine, which blends Western and Japanese influences. It\u2019s Center City\u2019s new hotspot, ready for after-work drinks and late-night hangs.<\/p>\n

Despite touches of 1980s inspiration, the main space, which is anchored by a large bar, doesn\u2019t feel too different from Royal with its tavern-like dark-wood interior. It feels designed for lingering. A secluded section on the side seats smaller parties, with counter seats facing the kitchen. Early reservations<\/a> are easiest to come by, but for the best vibes, go later.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll get the best experience if you come with a group and split several dishes, given the heavy, comfort-food approach of most of the menu. Put this on your list for gatherings when the goal isn\u2019t necessarily a full dinner, but good drinks and a variety of snacks.
