And that\u2019s not counting the limos or taxis Kevin indulged in.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s thanks to a 303% spike in inflation across the bougie hotel\u2019s prices over the last 33 years \u2014 since the film\u2019s debut \u2014 which iSelect determined by comparing pricing from the Plaza, inflation data and updated menu costs.<\/p>\n<p>The famous $967 room service bill Kevin racked up would come at a cost of $2,233 today. 20th Century Fox Film Corp.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/15\/entertainment\/home-alone-2-director-wants-donald-trumps-cameo-removed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">biggest tab would be for The Plaza suite <\/a>itself, clocking in at an average of $6,244 per night \u2014 though there are suites that go for as much as $33,000.<\/p>\n<p>Back when the notorious 9-year-old was running amok in New York City \u2014 when the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/26\/us-news\/trumps-outburst-at-nyt-reporter-latest-attack-on-female-journalist-ugly-both-inside-and-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hotel was owned by President Trump<\/a> \u2014 his room would have cost on average $1,100 a night, according to iSelect.<\/p>\n<p>Just a simple three-scoop sundae with maraschino cherries, M&amp;M\u2019s and chocolate sauce from the hotel kitchen would cost $24 today, compared to $18 when Kevin tormented the staff.<\/p>\n<p>iSelect determined the surge in cost by comparing pricing from The Plaza Hotel, historic inflation data and updated menu costs. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The hotel now even offers up the \u201cHome Alone Sundae\u201d as a homage to the movie \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theplazany.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IRD-5.29.2024.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to the tune of $350.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The four-fold total increase should come as no surprise as the country grapples with inflation and overall money troubles.<\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/25\/business\/inflation-stifles-us-income-growth-ahead-of-holiday-shopping-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> unemployment rate ticked up to 4.4%\u00a0in September, <\/a>the most recent month for which data are available \u2014 and the highest level since October 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Income, however, is growing at minuscule rates nearing those of the 2008 recession. <\/p>\n<p>As of October, the median income growth for people ages 25 to 54 stood at just 1.6% \u2014 which could make for a significant reduction in consumer spending this holiday season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"At these prices, it would be better to stay home alone for the holidays.
