Emma Heming broke down while discussing the difficulties of moving her husband Bruce Willis into a separate home<\/a> amid his dementia battle.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are hard decisions. These are impossible \u2014 I\u2019m getting choked up thinking about it,\u201d Heming said at the End Well 2025 conference in Los Angeles on Nov. 20, Us Weekly reported.<\/a> <\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re impossible decisions. This is not how I envisioned our life,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

Heming, 47, said that she had to make the \u201cbest and safest decision\u201d for their family \u2014 despite the backlash she received over the move. <\/p>\n

\u201cI knew by being honest and open about it, that it would be\u00a0met with a lot of judgment,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

While outsiders have been critical, Heming said that her family has been fully supportive.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause they know, they\u2019re in it and I\u2019ve got this beautiful blended family,\u201d she said. \u201cI also have Bruce\u2019s mother who is in her 90s. I have Bruce\u2019s brother and sister and cousins and they have been so loving and supportive and nonjudgmental.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heming \u2014 who shares daughters Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, with the \u201cDie Hard\u201d actor \u2014 revealed in August that Willis moved into his own home.<\/p>\n

\u201cBruce would want that for\u00a0our daughters,\u201d she said while appearing in \u201cEmma and Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey \u2013 A Diane Sawyer Special\u201d at the time, adding that it was a \u201chard\u201d decision.<\/p>\n

She said that Willis moving into a separate home was the \u201cbest and safest decision\u201d for their family. emmahemingwillis\/Instagram<\/p>\n

\u201cHe would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Heming shared that their kids see their father often, visiting his nearby home for breakfast and dinner. <\/p>\n

The mom of two admitted in last month\u2019s panel that she attended therapy before discussing the decision publicly. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was interesting to see how much judgment and criticism about what a terrible person I am and how could I do this,\u201d she said. \u201cBut you know what I say is that if you are not on the front lines of this, in that person\u2019s house day in, day out, 24\/7, 365 days a year \u2014 then you don\u2019t get a say and you don\u2019t get a vote.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heming explained how moving Willis out of their family home has ultimately changed things for the better.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople don\u2019t realize all the needs that go unmet behind closed doors and now our children\u2019s needs are met,\u201d she said. \u201cThey are in a home where they can have playdates and sleepovers, these things that we don\u2019t even think about. <\/p>\n

\u201cTheir world is completely opened up and so has my husband\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heming admitted that her husband\u2019s illness is \u201cmessy.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cCaregiving is messy, and you\u2019ve got to go with the waves of it,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

Willis also shares three daughters with his ex-wife Demi Moore. demimoore\/Instagram<\/p>\n

Willis \u2014 who also shares daughters Rumer, 37, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 31, with\u00a0ex-wife Demi Moore<\/a> \u2014 was diagnosed with aphasia<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n

The following year, his family announced that Willis\u2019 condition progressed and he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia<\/a>,\u00a0a neurological disorder characterized by language problems, behavioral changes and mobility issues.<\/p>\n
