The Haywood County Sheriff\u2019s Office posted a photo on Facebook showing the elk with the child\u2019s swing on Sunday. The sheriff\u2019s office contacted North Carolina Wildlife officials for assistance. They safely removed the child’s swing from the elk\u2019s antlers on Monday. \u201cWe\u2019re happy to report that the elk is doing just fine, and there is no harm to him. We are grateful for the quick response and teamwork from NC Wildlife, and we sincerely appreciate our community for reporting concerns and helping us protect these animals. The elk are a special part of Maggie Valley, and we care deeply about their well-being,\u201d the sheriff\u2019s office said.
