{"id":418761,"date":"2025-12-02T05:04:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T05:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/418761\/"},"modified":"2025-12-02T05:04:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T05:04:17","slug":"family-seeks-justice-for-mother-in-medically-induced-coma-after-suspected-west-side-hit-and-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/418761\/","title":{"rendered":"Family seeks justice for mother in medically induced coma after suspected West Side hit-and-run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 The family of a woman critically injured in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ksat.com\/news\/local\/2025\/11\/09\/woman-injured-in-suspected-west-side-hit-and-run\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suspected hit-and-run crash<\/a> on the West Side is speaking out for the first time, pleading for answers as they navigate the uncertainty of her condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, when 32-year-old Alexandra Rodriguez was struck by a vehicle in the 7900 block of West Military Drive. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The San Antonio Police Department said officers found Rodriguez unresponsive on the ground with a bloody nose. A preliminary report released by SAPD on Nov. 9 noted that Rodriguez also had tire marks on her lower back, but it remains unclear how she sustained those injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Rodriguez, a mother of three boys, was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. She was later placed in a medically induced coma, where she remains as her family anxiously waits for updates on her condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cShe suffered two skull fractures from those two skull fractures; she\u2019s now had surgery twice,\u201d said Jennifer Lummus, Rodriguez\u2019s sister.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Annette Cardenas, Rodriguez\u2019s mother, described the pain of seeing her daughter in the hospital and the frustration over the hit-and-run.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cA young mother who\u2019s just thrown there, and you don\u2019t aid her? How long was she lying there? In the street by herself?\u201d Cardenas said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">SAPD said its investigation is ongoing, but there have been no new developments in the case. Police believe the woman was hit by a vehicle, but no suspect or vehicle information has been released. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">With no witnesses coming forward, Cardenas and Lummus are pleading for anyone with information to help bring the responsible party to justice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI want her to just open her eyes so I can know she\u2019s not in the danger zone,\u201d Cardenas said. \u201cEvery day, it\u2019s just hard to see her just there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Rodriguez\u2019s family has been left to care for her three children, ages 10 to 17.
