JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 More details are emerging about the events that led to the deadly shooting of an 18-year-old employee at a Burger King on the Westside.<\/p>\n

According to an arrest report obtained by News4JAX, the accused shooter, identified as 28-year-old Dawud Burritt<\/a>, was at the Burger King when 33-year-old Ray Cummings, a former friend and restaurant employee, approached him.<\/p>\n

Cummings, who was wounded in the shooting, was interviewed by police at Orange Park Medical Center, according to the report. <\/p>\n

He told investigators that he and Burritt had a falling out about a year ago after an eight-year friendship, but said he did not currently have any issues with him, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

The day of the shooting, other Burger King employees told police they noticed Burritt sitting outside the restaurant with a beer and playing loud music. According to the report, a female employee told Burritt he could not stay on the property if he was not making a purchase, leading to a verbal argument between the two.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when Cummings said he walked outside to deliver food to a customer in the parking lot when he noticed Burritt in the lobby and went to \u201cdap him up.\u201d JSO said Burritt responded by saying \u201cWhat\u2019s up\u201d to him before hitting him in the face, which caused a fight to break out.<\/p>\n

According to the report, 18-year-old Matthew Jackson picked up a bread knife to attempt to break up the fight. Another Burger King employee was also seen trying to intervene.<\/p>\n

After the fighting stopped, Cummings says he walked behind the counter and saw Burritt remove a firearm from his pants, so he yelled \u201cgun\u201d and started to run. <\/p>\n

Surveillance video from inside the restaurant showed Cummings and Jackson retreat behind the counter to get away from Burritt. <\/p>\n

Burritt, the report said, picked up a few items off the floor before he jumped over the counter with the gun in his hand.<\/p>\n

The report said Jackson ran to the rear drive-thru window, attempting to open it in an \u201cobvious state of panic\u201d before Burritt approached him.<\/p>\n

When he was unable to open the window, JSO said, Jackson turned to face Burritt with his hands raised. Then, Burritt shot Jackson then shot him again after he was on the ground, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Cummings ran out the back of the restaurant but tripped and fell. He told detectives that while Burritt stood over him, he asked him, \u201cWhat are you doing? Why are you doing this?\u201d<\/p>\n

The report said Burritt replied, \u201cWhat\u2019s up, brother? I love you,\u201d then pointed the gun at Cummings and shot him, too. <\/p>\n

Burritt left the scene soon after, but police found him a short distance from the restaurant, near a retention pond. The report said Burritt was wet.<\/p>\n

When investigators asked Burritt about the shooting, he told them he was defending himself and did not provide any further details.<\/p>\n

Burritt was charged with second-degree murder, among other charges. <\/p>\n
