HOUSTON, Texas <\/strong> \u2013 A homeowner and a suspected home intruder are both in the hospital after a shootout in southeast Houston on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Houston police were called to the 9400 block of East Avenue around 1 a.m.<\/p>\n

Investigators say two men tried to force their way into the home when the homeowner confronted them and opened fire. <\/p>\n

One of the suspects returned fire, hitting the homeowner, but was also shot multiple times.<\/p>\n

Police say the homeowner managed to drive himself to a nearby fire station for help. <\/p>\n

The injured suspect ran from the scene and ended up knocking on a neighbor\u2019s door, two blocks away, for help.<\/p>\n

Both the homeowner and the suspect are in stable condition. <\/p>\n

The second suspect got away.<\/p>\n
