Compared to the non-S model, the newer ones come with a wider FOV, at 52°, while the regular version has a 50° FOV, leading to a slightly wider observable area for the latest offering.

The displays have also seen a slight upgrade, with the Micro OLED panels of Xreal 1S coming with a perceived brightness rating of 700 nits, which is up from 600 nits of the non-S AR glasses. Xreal adds that the screens have a 1200p resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 108% sRGB color coverage.

Regarding the fit, Xreal highlights that the new AR glasses are designed to offer a comfortable fit. They weigh 82 grams, which is lighter than the Xreal One, and come with flexible temples and an adjustable hinge.

Another highlight of the Xreal 1S is the real-time 3D conversion tech, which is powered by the X1 SoC inside. It’s the same processor as the Xreal One, coming with features like frame generation, spatial computing, and 3 ms M2P low latency.

As for the audio department, the new AR glasses come with a sound system that’s tuned by Bose. Xreal notes that they have Spatial Sound 4.0 tech that’s paired with a dynamic audio algorithm. The Xreal 1S also come with “ENC uplink noise cancelling algorithm” for “cinematic sound.” However, given that the setup is very similar to open-ear earbuds, the audio system is less likely to block noises like in-ear ANC earbuds.

Regarding the price, the Xreal 1S are now available to pre-order in Japan at JPY 67,980, around $437. They should soon make a global debut, and in the international market, they are expected to cost a bit higher than the non-S One (curr. $399 on Amazon).

Abid Ahsan Shanto – Senior Tech Writer – 2294 articles published on Notebookcheck since 2023

Abid’s journey as a technophile began when he first assembled his PC.
