Scott Jennings<\/a> has said he\u2019ll apologize to Hollywood star Catherine Zeta-Jones after humiliating her son on live TV\u2014though only if she takes him to dinner.<\/p>\n

The conservative commentator, 48, tangled live on CNN on Nov. 10 with Dylan Douglas, 25\u2014who describes himself<\/a> as an \u201cactor, activist, producer and media personality\u201d\u2014over Trump\u2019s SNAP and Affordable Care Act tax credits policies. <\/p>\n

Afterward, gossip columnist Rob Shuter claimed the nepo baby\u2019s film-star parents\u2014Zeta-Jones, 56, and Michael Douglas, 81\u2014were \u201cfurious.\u201d Shuter reported<\/a> that the famous pair thought the segment had \u201ccrossed a line.\u201d <\/p>\n

Discussing the showdown on Meghan McCain\u2019s Citizen McCain podcast<\/a> on Monday, Jennings joked, \u201cI\u2019m more than willing to apologize personally to Catherine Zeta-Jones over a nice seafood dinner if she wants to do it.\u201d <\/p>\n

Jennings admitted he was \u201csurprised\u201d to read that Zeta-Jones and Douglas had been upset about the head-to-head.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had what is relatively a normal exchange,\u201d the political pundit said. \u201cHe made his Democratic talking points. I dismantled him. Not an uncommon thing to happen on CNN.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that what happens with some of these folks is that they exist in a very tight little bubble. They never really talk to Republicans or conservatives. They don\u2019t really get outside of their bubbles where people tell them how smart and good-looking they are. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then they wind up on television with someone of a different persuasion, and it\u2019s surprising to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCain described the exchange, in a segment that also featured Rep. James Clyburn and political strategist Ana Navarro, as \u201clike bringing a knife to a gun fight,\u201d and that he shouldn\u2019t have been booked. <\/p>\n

The podcast host also reflected<\/a> on being \u201cschooled\u201d early in her career, recalling former Bill Clinton adviser Paul Begala \u201cschooled the living s–t out of me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been Dylan Douglas,\u2019 McCain said. \u201dBut what didn\u2019t happen is my parents didn\u2019t have a meltdown. My dad was like, \u2018Buck up and move on.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

But in a moment of good grace, Jennings said, \u201cActually, I have to say Dylan was really nice off the air. I think he was honored to be there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope Dylan comes back. I\u2019m sure he\u2019ll get better at it.\u201d<\/p>\n
