JERUSALEM — Israel intends to send a delegation to Qatar to discuss a ceasefire-hostages agreement with Hamas, Israel”s state-owned Kan TV reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The channel added that the delegation is expected to leave for Qatar on Sunday.<\/p>\n
On Friday, Hamas said in a statement that it has delivered a “positive” response to mediators over a Gaza ceasefire proposal, adding it is “seriously prepared to immediately enter into a round of negotiations on the mechanism for implementing this framework.”<\/p>\n
Kan TV cited Israeli sources as saying that following Hamas’ response, the Israeli side believes “there is something to work with.”<\/p>\n
Israel’s Channel 12 News also reported the planned departure of an Israeli delegation to Qatar, quoting a senior Israeli official as saying, “It is possible to reach an agreement. This opportunity should not be missed.”<\/p>\n
However, he noted that there are also significant gaps, and stressed the need to coordinate expectations with the Israeli public, “which is eager for an immediate deal.”<\/p>\n
