{"id":419984,"date":"2025-12-02T17:39:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T17:39:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/419984\/"},"modified":"2025-12-02T17:39:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T17:39:12","slug":"curry-barker-horror-film-unveils-first-look","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/419984\/","title":{"rendered":"Curry Barker Horror Film Unveils First Look"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/focus-features\/\" id=\"auto-tag_focus-features\" data-tag=\"focus-features\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Focus Features<\/a> has unveiled the first teaser for <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/obsession\/\" id=\"auto-tag_obsession\" data-tag=\"obsession\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Obsession<\/a>, the buzzy horror film from <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/curry-barker\/\" id=\"auto-tag_curry-barker\" data-tag=\"curry-barker\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Curry Barker<\/a> that they swooped on at TIFF in a deal our sources placed at $15M+, additionally announcing that <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/jason-blum\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jason-blum\" data-tag=\"jason-blum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jason Blum<\/a>\u2018s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/blumhouse\/\" id=\"auto-tag_blumhouse\" data-tag=\"blumhouse\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blumhouse<\/a> has boarded the project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMichael Johnston stars in the film, written and directed by Barker, as a hopeless romantic who, after breaking the mysterious \u201cOne Wish Willow\u201d to win his crush\u2019s heart, finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOne of the most anticipated horror films of 2026, Obsession premiered in the midnight section of this year\u2019s Toronto Film Festival before going on to sold-out screenings at Fantastic Fest and winning Sitges\u2019 People\u2019s Choice Award. The film hits U.S. theaters on May 15, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tObsession\u2018s cast also includes Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter. James Harris produced through Teashop Productions, alongside Haley Nicole Johnson through Under the Shell, and Christian Mercuri on behalf of Capstone Pictures, which fully financed the project, repped world rights, and co-repped domestic alongside CAA Media Finance.<\/p>\n<p>Blumhouse\u2019s Jason Blum is now an exec producer on the film, which current holds a 97% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tRecent releases from Focus Features, as either domestic or international distributor, include Anemone \u2014 the psychological drama that brought Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis out of retirement \u2014 as well as Yorgos Lanthimos\u2019 Bugonia, Chlo\u00e9 Zhao\u2019s Hamnet, and Alex Russell\u2019s Lurker. Upcoming, they\u2019ll release The History of Sound on December 18 and Song Sung Blue on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSet to release Five Nights at Freddy\u2019s 2 on Friday, the newly merged Blumhouse-Atomic Monster has a busy 2026 ahead with releases including Lee Cronin\u2019s The Mummy, Mortal Kombat 2, Jacob Chase\u2019s Insidious, and Rob Savage\u2019s Other Mommy, in addition to Obsession.
