VRT News<\/a>, has revealed that police caught\u00a0Schoenaerts riding his motorbike in\u00a0Pelt, Limburg, on two occasions in April 2024, without\u00a0a valid driving licence.<\/p>\nHe’d already been banned from\u00a0driving in Antwerp in September 2021 after being caught driving under the influence of drugs, and failed to retake the\u00a0compulsory “recovery tests”\u00a0and exams.<\/p>\n
Schoenaerts, who has reportedly been convicted 11 times in the past, did not appear in\u00a0Beringen yesterday and has subsequently been sentenced to six months’\u00a0imprisonment in absentia. He’s also been fined\u00a0\u20ac4,000 and received a one-year driving ban.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As the outlet explains, “This does not mean that the actor will have to go to prison immediately. He can still lodge an\u00a0appeal.”\u00a0<\/strong>Schoenaerts was also arrested last week in a separate incident after\u00a0allegedly refusing to take a breathalyser test.\u00a0<\/p>\nHow much of a disaster is this for the DCU? That remains to be seen, but it’s obviously not a great look for the main villain in the upcoming Supergirl movie to be facing a prison sentence. We don’t know whether DC Studios was aware of\u00a0Schoenaerts’ driving convictions when he was cast, and there’s been no word from them on this news as we write this.<\/p>\n
In June, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn was asked about casting Milly Alcock as the Maiden of Might (a decision made before Craig Gillespie was hired), and shared,\u00a0“I wanted her to be this little pixie-ish, but very attitudinal character.\u00a0[Milly]\u00a0was the first person I brought up.”<\/strong><\/p>\nGunn later credited\u00a0Gillespie with\u00a0“[amping] up”\u00a0<\/strong>the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills, a character who debuted in the\u00a0Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow\u00a0comic book.\u00a0“Dude, wait till you see how scary he is in the movie,”\u00a0<\/strong>he teased, reiterating that Schoenaerts is\u00a0“scary,” “creepy,”<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0“cool”\u00a0<\/strong>in the role.\u00a0<\/p>\nIn\u00a0Supergirl, Supergirl travels across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog. Along the way, she meets a young woman named Ruthye and winds up on a murderous quest for revenge.<\/p>\n
