{"id":421210,"date":"2025-12-03T06:22:18","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T06:22:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/421210\/"},"modified":"2025-12-03T06:22:18","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T06:22:18","slug":"grammys-to-fete-latin-music-with-prime-time-cbs-special","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/421210\/","title":{"rendered":"Grammys to fete Latin music with prime-time CBS special"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p data-has-dropcap=\"\">Though <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment\/music\/la-et-ms-grammys-latin-music-20190211-story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">often overlooked by the Recording Academy at its main awards show<\/a>, Latin music will get its moment of recognition from the institution later this month. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Grammy Celebration of Latin Music\u201d will be a two-hour TV special honoring the genre\u2019s \u201clasting impact and influence in the United States,\u201d according to a CBS press release. The program will air  Dec. 28 on the Tiffany Network at 8 p.m. Pacific time.<\/p>\n<p>Actor <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/delos\/story\/2025-10-22\/new-podcast-by-wilmer-valderrama-is-a-love-letter-to-actor-desi-arnaz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wilmer Valderrama<\/a> and  singer-songwriter <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/espanol\/entretenimiento\/articulo\/2021-08-03\/roselyn-sanchez-invoca-el-espiritu-de-montalban-en-nueva-isla-de-la-fantasia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roselyn S\u00e1nchez<\/a> will co-host the show, which will feature performances from the likes of  \u00c1ngela Aguilar, Andrea Bocelli, Michael Bubl\u00e9, Gloria Estefan, Luis Fonsi, Maren Morris, Laura Pausini, Prince Royce, Car\u00edn Le\u00f3n, the Warning, Robin Thicke and Billy Idol.<\/p>\n<p>The cast of the Tony-winning Broadway musical <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2025-03-23\/buena-vista-social-club-broadway-musical-writer-marco-ramirez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cBuena Vista Social Club<\/a>\u201d \u2014 which is nominated for a Grammy for musical  theater album  \u2014 will also grace the stage.<\/p>\n<p>The program will feature interviews with Latin music and Grammy icons, including Daddy Yankee, Emilio Estefan, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Rita Moreno and Carlos Santana. <\/p>\n<p>Moreno nabbed her only Grammy nomination and win at the 15th Grammy Awards for children\u2019s music album for her work on \u201cThe Electric Company.\u201d Her Grammy was the second jewel in her EGOT quest, which she completed in 1977 with her Emmy  for her appearance on \u201cThe Muppet Show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Santana\u2019s 1999 album, \u201cSupernatural,\u201d tied the record for most Grammy wins in one night with eight at the 42nd Grammy Awards \u2014 matching the record set by Michael Jackson\u2019s \u201cThriller\u201d in 1984.  <\/p>\n<p>The program is modeled in the image of previous Grammy recognition shows, known as \u201csalutes,\u201d for artists like the Beatles; the Beach Boys; Prince; the Bee Gees; Whitney Houston; Earth, Wind &amp; Fire; Elton John; Paul Simon; Cyndi Lauper and Stevie Wonder. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Grammy Celebration of Latin Music\u201d will air a little over a month before the 68th Grammy Awards, which will take place Feb. 1 at downtown L.A.\u2019s Crypto.com Arena. <\/p>\n<p>Latin artists are featured prominently for the upcoming awards show, with Bad Bunny becoming the first Spanish-language artist to earn nominations in several top categories for his critically acclaimed album \u201cDeb\u00ed Tirar M\u00e1s Fotos,\u201d including record, album and song of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Kooky Argentine duo <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/delos\/story\/2025-03-06\/ca7riel-paco-amoroso-tiny-desk-ep-papota\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso<\/a> received their first ever Grammy nomination under Latin rock or alternative album for their nine-track EP, \u201cPapota.\u201d If they win, they will be the second Argentine group to win in that category;
