More than 1.5 million bags of shredded cheese sold at major retailers across the United States have been recalled over concerns about possible metal contamination, federal authorities say. <\/p>\n
The affected product, manufactured by Ohio-based Great Lakes Cheese Co., was believed to have been distributed in 31 states, including New York. The FDA classified it as a Class II recall, meaning there is a risk of temporary health problems or adverse effects, but says any emergent issues would likely resolve. <\/p>\n
The affected cheese was sold under private labels, including ones sold at Walmart, Target and Aldi. The affected cheese includes multiple brands of shredded mozzarella, shredded Italian-style cheese and shredded pizza-style cheese, along with various blends. <\/p>\n
Anyone with the recalled products should toss them or return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.<\/p>\n
