Kathy Hochul.<\/p>\n<p>The newly emboldened local chapter of the far-Democratic Socialists of America is pushing its members in a takeover of \u201clower-level\u201d government entities to supercharge their far-left policies under the new face of their movement, mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.<\/p>\n<p>Members of New York City\u2019s DSA are urging members to take over \u201clower-level\u201d entities, such as community boards and PTAs\/ Instagram\/nycdsa<\/p>\n<p>\u2018[W]e must plug Zohran organizers and supporters into lower-level city institutions en masse,\u201d NYC-DSA co-chair Grace Mausser <a href=\"https:\/\/jacobin.com\/2025\/12\/nyc-dsa-mamdani-organizing-strategy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote in the magazine \u201cJacobin,\u201d<\/a> which dubs itself as the \u201cleading voice of the American left.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew York City has hundreds of small semigovernmental bodies that are typically ceded to less progressive forces, such as community boards, and parent-teacher associations and community education councils,\u201d she continued in the manifesto, published weeks before Mamdani takes office.<\/p>\n<p>Mausser urged the nearly 12,000 members, as well as other Mamdani supporters, to take advantage of volunteer spots at libraries and parks if they can\u2019t nab a city seat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the opportunity to create a sense of mass ownership over the city and build support for Zohran\u2019s agenda from the bottom of city government to the top,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>NYC-DSA co-chair Grace Mausser told members to take advantage of volunteer spots throughout the city. She doesn\u2019t satisfy their ideological, political-purity test,\u201d said political insider Ken Frydman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re young, politically-misguided revolutionaries in a big hurry for the revolution to begin on January 1, 2026.
