{"id":423439,"date":"2025-12-04T05:35:17","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T05:35:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/423439\/"},"modified":"2025-12-04T05:35:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T05:35:17","slug":"rangers-hoping-braden-schneider-can-make-positive-impact-in-adam-foxs-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/423439\/","title":{"rendered":"Rangers hoping Braden Schneider can make positive impact in Adam Fox&#8217;s place"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Braden Schneider held his own in <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/02\/sports\/vladislav-gavrikovs-goal-propels-rangers-to-ot-home-win-over-stars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tuesday\u2019s win over Dallas <\/a>at Madison Square Garden, tasked with helping replace the injured Adam Fox as part of the top defensive pair for the Rangers.<\/p>\n<p>Playing alongside Vladislav Gavrikov, Schneider led a strong effort versus the Stars, as the Rangers were the better team throughout the night.<\/p>\n<p>And with Fox on injured reserve and out indefinitely, expect to see more of Schneider there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought they were solid,\u201d head coach Mike Sullivan said of the pair. \u201cThey\u2019re both very good defenders. [Schneider] is a mobile guy and has some physical edge to his game. When they defend hard for us, they\u2019re effective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schneider hoped to make the most of his opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou want to make sure you\u2019re impacting the game in some positive way,\u201d Schneider said. \u201cWe did a good job of making things hard on them and we had some good chances in the [offensive] zone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Considering Fox\u2019s dominance in that part of the game \u2014 with a team-high 23 assists, as well as 26 points, second only to Artemi Panarin\u2019s 28 \u2014 others will have to chip in.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37838063\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Braden-Schneider.jpg\" alt=\"Braden Schneider (right) defends Mikko Rantanen during the Rangers' OT win over the Stars on Dec. 2, 2025.\" class=\"wp-image-37838063\"  \/>Braden Schneider (right) defends Mikko Rantanen during the Rangers\u2019 OT win over the Stars on Dec. 2, 2025. NHLI via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Gavrikov ended up scoring the game-winner in overtime Wednesday, while Schneider enjoyed the opportunity to play more meaningful minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe game is the same, but it gives you a bit more confidence,\u201d Schneider said. \u201cYou have more pop in your step and you\u2019re a little quicker in your decisions with the puck. It felt good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The loss of Fox was also significant to the first power play unit, as Sullivan opted to go with five forwards, with Panarin running the point.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Rangers went 0-for-5 with the man advantage against Dallas, but Sullivan remains confident the group will work, including Panarin on the blue line.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought they got better as the game went on,\u2019\u2019 Sullivan said, pointing to a four-minute power play early in the third period. \u201cThey were zipping around.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And the coach noted it might take some time for them to get accustomed to the setup, especially Panarin.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRead the expert take on the Blueshirts\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for Inside the Rangers, a weekly Sports+ exclusive.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThank you\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe put [Panarin] in a spot he\u2019s not accustomed to playing,\u201d Sullivan said. \u201cAs talented as he is, there\u2019s [still] gonna be a little bit of a learning curve there. I think he\u2019s gonna be a fast study because of his intellect and his talent.
