{"id":423484,"date":"2025-12-04T06:05:18","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T06:05:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/423484\/"},"modified":"2025-12-04T06:05:18","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T06:05:18","slug":"once-again-bad-data-is-good-news-for-markets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/423484\/","title":{"rendered":"Once again, bad data is good news for markets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After shaking off some of the weakness at the start of the month, markets seemed to be ready to board Santa&#8217;s sleigh, and rode into a second straight day of gains this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday&#8217;s rally was on the back of surprisingly weak private jobs data, with payrolls processing firm ADP&#8217;s November report showing 32,000 job losses, sharply missing the 40,000 gain expected by economists polled by Dow Jones.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This further strengthened investors&#8217; conviction that the U.S. Federal Reserve will cut rates in its final meeting of the year on Dec. 9-10.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But before one starts celebrating like Charlie Bucket who has found a golden ticket to Willy Wonka&#8217;s chocolate factory, remember, what looks like a catalyst for portfolios in the short term can mask economic weakness in the longer term if job losses continue.<\/p>\n<p>For now, markets are savoring the sugar rush, but whether this rally lasts is anyone&#8217;s guess.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"headline0\"\/>What you need to know today<\/p>\n<p><strong>Huang talks chip restrictions.<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/NVDA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nvidia<\/a>\u00a0CEO Jensen Huang said he met with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday and that the two men<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/12\/03\/nvidias-jensen-huang-talks-chip-controls-with-trump-hits-regulation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> discussed chip export restrictions<\/a>, as lawmakers consider a proposal to limit exports of advanced artificial intelligence chips to nations like China.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Markets climb on rate-cut hopes. <\/strong>All <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/12\/02\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three U.S. indexes rose<\/a> as traders bet on a Fed rate cut on the back of weak job numbers. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a> was the largest gainer, up 0.86%.
