It\u2019s like just about every other country, in all fairness, it\u2019s not them. I\u2019m not blaming them. But every country because we had stupid people running our country,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>The deal was signed during Trump\u2019s first term in office and in 2020. The stuff that\u2019s being made is different. The export and import profile is different. The USTR will hear from business groups from both nations.<\/p>\n<p>Canada <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11436583\/canada-launching-cusma-review-consultation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched its own formal review<\/a> of the deal in September.<\/p>\n<p>Industry Minister Melanie Joly is set to appear Thursday afternoon at the House of Commons international trade committee, which is conducting a study on the forthcoming CUSMA review.<\/p>\n<p>Canada is the largest export market for the U.S. and makes up <a href=\"https:\/\/economics.td.com\/ca-canada-us-trade-balance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one of the smallest trade deficits<\/a> of any of the U.S.\u2019s trade partners. In fact, without energy exports, Canada runs a deficit with the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Since March, the U.S. has provided tariff relief for Canadian exports that are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradecommissioner.gc.ca\/en\/market-industry-info\/search-country-region\/country\/canada-united-states-export\/us-tariffs\/guide-cusma-compliance.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">compliant with CUSMA<\/a>.
