The co-hosts of ABC\u2019s \u201cThe View<\/a>\u201d tore into ESPN host\u00a0Stephen A. Smith<\/a>\u00a0on Thursday for condemning Sen. Mark Kelly<\/a>, D-Ariz., for participating in a video telling US military members to ignore any unlawful orders from President Donald Trump<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During the latest episode of the daytime talk show, co-host Sunny Hostin<\/a> brought up Smith\u2019s spirited criticism of Kelly and called him \u201cloud and wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

After playing the clip of Smith\u2019s commentary, Hostin said, \u201cI\u2019d love to give you the opportunity to perhaps change your position on what you said.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not changing a thing,\u201d Smith shot back. <\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t stutter when I said it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hostin replied, \u201cOK. You want to stay loud and wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith responded, \u201cWell, you can call it loud and wrong all you want to. You\u2019re entitled to your opinion, I\u2019m entitled to mine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Six Democratic lawmakers, including Sens. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., and Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., appeared in a video last month that urged military and intelligence community members to consult their consciences and refuse to obey \u201cillegal\u201d orders.<\/p>\n

Directly calling out the Trump administration, they added, \u201cThis administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community officials against American citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe View\u201d co-hosts called out ESPN host Stephen A. Smith for condemning Sen. Mark Kelly. ABC<\/p>\n

In his commentary on the video during his XM radio show last Wednesday, Smith went after Kelly for\u00a0appearing in the video.<\/p>\n

\u201cRespectfully, senator, what the hell are you doing?\u201d Smith said. <\/p>\n

\u201cLooking into the camera and telling military men and women to ignore the commander-in-chief? How dare you? How dare you do that?\u201d<\/p>\n

While on \u201cThe View,\u201d Hostin tried to debunk Smith\u2019s point, stating that before he was Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth<\/a> had expressed that military members should not follow unlawful orders, suggesting that he and Kelly agree on the subject.<\/p>\n

Smith dismissed the point, telling Hostin, \u201cFirst of all, I don\u2019t give a damn what\u00a0Pete Hegseth\u00a0has to say, because I will tell you right now, he was never qualified for the job\u2026 I don\u2019t care what he has to say. Let me get that out the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sunny Hostin told Smith he had a chance to change his stance, to which he replied, \u201cI\u2019m not changing a thing.\u201d ABC<\/p>\n

Smith then defended his point against Kelly, saying he was warning that, as a veteran, Kelly could land in hot water if he\u2019s caught, implying that troops should disobey orders.<\/p>\n

Referencing conversations with his family members who have military experience, he said, \u201cYou can be implicated for implying something if you are a former military member, or you are a present military member. It wasn\u2019t what Mark Kelly said, it\u2019s the fact that he was a combat Navy pilot who served in the military who would tell folks, \u2018ignore an order,\u2019 when it could get them in a world of trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n

Co-host Joy Behar<\/a> and Hostin interjected, saying Kelly mentioned ignoring \u201cillegal\u201d orders.<\/p>\n

Smith shot back, \u201cI said illegal. I\u2019m talking about illegal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hostin doubled down: \u201cHe said you don\u2019t have to follow an unlawful order and that is in the military code of conduct. It didn\u2019t sound like you were aware of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhich I\u2019m aware of,\u201d Smith answered.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it didn\u2019t sound like you were aware of that during your show,\u201d Hostin said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI disagree with you,\u201d he told the co-host.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had two governors, by the way, text me to tell me I was wrong and they agree with you,\u201d Smith said, referring to his hosts.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are wrong,\u201d Hostin stated.<\/p>\n
