\n\tAs David Corenswet<\/a> takes over the big red cape for James Gunn<\/a>\u2018s Superman<\/a>, he had some support from previous Men of Steel.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor recently shared the \u201cvery encouraging\u201d words he received from Man of Steel<\/a> (2013), Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice<\/a> (2016) and Justice League<\/a> (2017) star Henry Cavill<\/a>, as well as Tyler Hoechlin<\/a> from The CW<\/a>\u2018s Superman & Lois<\/a>, about taking on the role of DC Comics<\/a> superhero for the big screen.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI had the pleasure of exchanging letters with two previous Supermans, Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin. They were very encouraging and we had a lovely exchange and I\u2019m excited to meet them one day. It\u2019ll be great when we can all get in a room together,\u201d he told Heart<\/a>. \u201cBoth of them, interestingly, sort of said in their own words, \u2018I\u2019m not gonna try to give you any tips.\u2019 And I think that\u2019s a very Superman thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCorenswet added, \u201cThey really just conveyed to me an encouragement and a sense of, you know, have fun with it. Which I think is Superman\u2019s way of doing it too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to Corenswet as the Man of Steel, Gunn\u2019s Superman stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, among a star-studded cast bringing more DC favorites to life.<\/p>\n

\n\tPremiering July 11 in theaters, Superman marks the launch of Gunn\u2019s new DCU<\/a>, after he and Peter Safran<\/a> took over at DC Studios<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n

\n\tThat December, Cavill confirmed the \u201csad news<\/a>\u201d that his Superman would not be returning for Gunn\u2019s DCU.
