{"id":425809,"date":"2025-12-05T05:59:19","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T05:59:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/425809\/"},"modified":"2025-12-05T05:59:19","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T05:59:19","slug":"james-bond-inspired-faberge-pendant-recovered-after-man-swallowed-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/425809\/","title":{"rendered":"James Bond-inspired Faberg\u00e9 pendant recovered after man swallowed it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) \u2014 New Zealand Police said Friday they have recovered a James Bond-inspired <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/britain-faberge-winter-egg-christies-auction-record-9c02459eef826a21653c97c3c34c7b24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Faberg\u00e9<\/a> pendant after six days of closely watching the man <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/octopussy-bond-pendant-swallowed-new-zealand-faberge-150729eac20d88d0e9fa6801d71af799\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accused of swallowing<\/a> the jewelry in an Auckland store. <\/p>\n<p>They said the pendant was recovered Thursday night after it exited the suspect\u2019s gastrointestinal tract naturally without medical intervention. <\/p>\n<p>The limited-edition, Faberg\u00e9 egg pendant was inspired by the 1983 <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/james-bond-new-movie-what-to-know-2d7bbd7b3ca86e86194952b681e6179d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">James Bond<\/a> film \u201cOctopussy,\u201d in which a jewel-smuggling operation involves a fake Faberg\u00e9 egg. <\/p>\n<p>A less glamorous photo supplied by New Zealand\u2019s police Friday showed a gloved hand holding the recovered pendant and its long, gold chain with an intact price tag showing the jewelry\u2019s 33,000 New Zealand dollar ($19,000) value.<\/p>\n<p>The man was arrested inside Partridge Jewelers in Auckland on Nov. 28 shortly after the alleged theft.<\/p>\n<p>He made a court appearance Nov. 29, when he didn\u2019t enter a plea to a charge of theft. Since then, he\u2019s been in police custody and officers had been stationed round the clock with the man to wait for the evidence to reemerge. <\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old man has not been publicly named. He is due to appear in Auckland District Court on Monday and will remain in police custody until then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven this man is in Police custody, we have a duty of care to continue monitoring him given the circumstances of what has occurred,\u201d Inspector Grae Anderson said in a statement Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p>The store\u2019s website says the egg, one of only 50 made, was crafted from gold, painted with green enamel and encrusted with 183 diamonds and two sapphires.
